This is basically the Idea of what Jessica and I have. It is probably going to change dramatically, but what should be know is that we are starting with nature and slowly pulling out to show an industrialized world and in the end come back to nature living within a world that has been modernized

Research

So after about two seconds of thinking I have decided to combined my assigned topic of Soundtracks with another category which is classical. In other words I’m working in a group with someone. The reason for this decision is that I figured that soundtrack category basically covers all types of music that it would be somewhat interesting to work with another person that has a different category. So now I’m still working with soundtrack, but focusing on classical music in movie soundtracks.

Looking more into the history of movie scores it self found at http://www.americancomposers.org/hollywood_chihara_article.htm I have discovered that not only does the history of a soundtrack date back to opera’s and plays in the 1700’s (duh), but the reason a soundtrack was inserted into a movie was to cover up the noise of the film projector. More surprising many of the composers were from europe with a background in classical music.

The whole reason for a soundtrack I feel is to be able to emotionally spark a feeling that is able to back up be it a modern movie to a silent film to an opera. One great example is from the movie A Clock Work Orange. The scene is when both gangs are fighting to a classical song, but i totally forget the name of the composer.

As an idea i am still working out the kinks with my partner, however we have come to an agreement subject matter will be more of the concept of the character. At the moment using abstract images of nature machinery.

The song Jessica and i have decided to use is Lisieux from the movie La Vie En Rose. Also the biggest influence for this project is from a photographer by the name of  Duane Michals.

Problem 3

October 28, 2009

My idea for this project is to i guess shine more light in area’s that I feel will be able to show the struggle my character goes through on a daily basis. It is not just in designing a character that he is constantly having to face his experiences, but in everyday life. Why does he wear his glasses? Why does he alway wear the same jacket? Why is it only that one person that help him forget all the troubles in his life and focus on the good stuff? What is it that made him turn out this way? So i will show some more of his past and how that has effected the present time. I will also show more on his dreams for the future. This is where I plan on choosing what era of art will go with what panel. I at this moment do not know. However I do want to show the struggle he has to go though daily. My words are North and South so I am very happy that I get to imply those word in my panel. When i worked at the zoo this summer it always seemed longer to travel up then it did to travel down. The zoo is more up North so in a way it is like walking up a steep hill or mountain. It sucks. South is to me going down hill. It doesn’t take as long. It almost easy. So i want to show where it is that my character has fallen and how he fights to get back up. That he is sad and has a hard time to find happiness. I also wish to show in the middle of where he finds his Mask which is the sunglasses.
